This year the Rotuman Backyard Farmers Association (RBFA) continued with its annual competition and achieved a few milestones along the way in its 2022-2023 calendar.
The office bearers for the year as follows:

General – Surkafa / Lui Mario
The year began with the ‘as veko’ (farmers backyard inspection) on the 11th of February, 2023. This is an annual event carried out a few months before the competition to verify that each member had actually planted yams or/and taro for the competition.
Membership – A total of 16 competitors were registered.
Participating Districts – Noa’tau (1), Itu’ti’u (6), Pepjei (5), Juju (1), Itu’muta (3)
FRA BACKYARD FARMERS ROOT CROP COMPETITION
An incredible competition held to coincide with the Rotuma Day Celebration. With an aim to continue passing down knowledge and planting skills to the younger generation.
